What is UPI credit card?

The concept of a UPI credit card is pretty easy, and I am here to explain it to you. If you are familiar with UPI payments, you scan the QR code of a merchant and pay from your savings account.

But here, you scan the QR code of the merchant and pay using your credit card. All you need to do is add your credit card to your UPI app. I am listing a few more relevant information to help you clearly understand what is a UPI credit card:

  • Currently, you can use this feature only if you have a RuPay credit card.
  • In India, 23 banks currently provide RuPay credit cards eligible for UPI payments.
  • You can use the UPI feature on your RuPay card on the BHIM app by NPCI.
  • UPI apps, such as GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc., also support this feature.
  • The daily upper limit is up to ₹1 lakh, and for special merchants, it is ₹2 lakh.

I have also added some benefits that you can enjoy with such a feature:

  • If you do not have sufficient balance in your savings account and are not carrying a credit card, this feature comes in handy.
  • When paying by scanning UPI QR codes, you can still earn cashback, reward points, and enjoy other perks just like with regular card swipes.
