What is Establishment ID in EPFO?

Please help me know what is establishment id in epf?

The Establishment ID in EPFO is a 15-digit alphanumeric code that the Ministry of Labour and Employment assigns to companies when they register with the EPFO.

Let me give an example so it’s easier to understand the Establishment ID and its structure:

  • Suppose an ID is GJAHD2321111000
  • The initial two letters represent the State. For example, KA denotes Karnataka, MH for Maharashtra and so on. In this example, it is Gujarat as it mentions ‘GJ’.
  • The next three letters represent the city name of the regional office. You can see ‘AHD’ written after ‘GJ’, which means Ahmedabad in this case.
  • The next seven digits mean ‘2321111’ is the Establishment ID.
  • And, the last three numbers ‘000’ are the extension code of the Establishment ID.

If you want to log in to your employer account, you can do so by entering this ID. Moreover, you can find details of any establishment registered under EPFO with the EPFO establishment search tool.
