What is the best way to use credit card? I just got my HDFC credit card. Any tips?
My first HDFC credit card was the HDFC Freedom credit card with a credit limit of ₹35,000. I have the lifetime free version of this card and have been using it for 1 year. It took just 3 days to reach my home after approval.
After unboxing, first, I saw the most important things, such as the credit limit, the bill date, the card activation process, etc. Then, from the HDFC MyCards portal, I enabled the online spend option.
If I tell you about how to use the HDFC credit card, I use my credit card in this way:
- I use my HDFC credit card for everyday purchases, including groceries, food orders, dining, etc.
- But online shopping is the best use case for me, as HDFC cards offer flat discounts on top e-commerce platforms.
- I always keep track of my spending from the HDFC Payzapp mobile app, so I do not overspend or miss payments.
- To avoid interest charges and late fees, I pay the bill on time. Thus, it helps me maintain a good credit score.
- To avoid any fraudulent transactions, I do not share my PIN and OTPs with anyone.
- I keep the tap-to-pay and international transactions turned off by default, and only enable them right before I make such payments.
Use your HDFC credit card responsibly and spend only the amount you are capable of paying.
Credit cards are beneficial only if you can manage your expenses properly. Otherwise, you will fall into the debt trap.
