Is 746 a good credit score?
Last year, when I saw my credit score flash as 746, I had mixed feelings: should I celebrate, or worry?
Out of curiosity, I applied for a credit card. To my surprise, I got instant approval, and the lender even offered me a higher credit limit than I expected. That’s when it hit me! I did some research and got to know that 746 is not just “good,” it’s a sweet spot where lenders see you as a reliable borrower.
As per my experience, a score above 740 opens many doors:
- Quicker approvals.
- Lower interest rates.
- A chance to strongly negotiate with the lenders.
But I didn’t want to stop there. I wanted to improve it by more points as my next financial plan was to own my dream home. So, I:
- Started paying bills a little early.
- Kept my card usage under 30%.
- Avoid making new credit applications.
Slowly, I noticed improvement. So, if you’re stuck at 746 like me, do not worry! You’re already in a strong position, and with a few smart moves that I mentioned, grabbing “excellent” is totally within reach.
